Greeting and Initial Information
When you walk into the office, you will be greeted by our receptionist and welcomed into the center. As a paperless clinic all patient information is filled out online via our Patient Portal. We recommend that you complete the patient information from the comfort of your own home prior to your first visit. We also have a patient kiosk in the office where the information can be completed. We understand that not everyone is comfortable with electronic forms, so can provide paper forms when you come into the office if preferred.
Consultation
After completing your health information, you will have an initial consultation with one of our doctors. Your initial visit is designed to allow us to learn more about your health history, current health issues and treatment goals. We also like to get a a better understanding of your exercise and diet regimen. During the consultation, please ask any questions you have about your health, treatments and care options.
Examination and x-rays
The doctor will then perform an initial 10-15 minute examination that includes standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests. These tests help to determine your current physical health and identify the root causes of problems. As part of the examination, the doctor will also perform a basline surface EMG scan. Surface EMG is lets you see the actual levels of surface electricity in your back muscles. The easy to read graphical representation identifies areas of muscle tension and misalignment. Surface EMG is performed at regular intervals during your treatment so you can see a quantitative measure of your progress over time.
If warranted by your symptoms and examination, you will receive x-rays on our state of the art digital x-ray equipment. X-rays show the alignment in your spine and are important in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most of our paitents are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their problems and degeneration themselves.
Report of findings
Using your health history, treatement goals and examination, the doctor will explain what your examination results show and recommended course of treatment. In your report of findings the doctor will cover:
- Review of x-rays and spinal alignment analysis
- Surface EMG scan and muscle tension
- Results of neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests
- Recommended treatment options
Treatment
After the doctor reviews the exam and x-ray findings and he will then begin care with you. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, rehab, and/or massage therapy. Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any preferences you have about the style of techniques you will be most comfortable with.
