At Aligned Modern Health, we treat every patient as an individual. All of our Acupuncturists have extensive experience in treating a variety of conditions and all hold a Masters or Doctorate degrees in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from the top acupuncture schools in the world.

About Joseph

Joseph began his love for East Asian health practices during his time at Kent State University where he was involved in a Chinese martial arts discipline. He received his BBA with a concentration in marketing in 1977.

After sales experience in the Whole Foods industry he decided to study Acupuncture at the New England School of Acupuncture in 1980. Upon graduation in 1983, he studied privately with the esteemed Japanese acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto. Joseph went to China in 1987 and studied Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Shanghai College of TCM. He continued his study of Japanese Acupuncture in 1990 with Kodo Fukishima in Tokyo and became one of the first non-Japanese practitioners of the Toyo Hari style of Acupuncture.

Joseph also began teaching at the New England School of Acupuncture in 1990 where he was an associate professor. Here, he taught Traditional Chinese Medical theory as well as Japanese Acupuncture. He also became co-chair of the Japanese Acupuncture Studies department.

In addition to a private practice in Cambridge, MA for almost 35 years, Joseph has managed an Acupuncture substance abuse program in the Boston area. He has been involved in several Acupuncture research programs with Harvard Medical School for back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. With Massachusetts General Hospital for high blood pressure and fibromyalgia studies.

More recently, Joseph was the acupuncturist at the Comprehensive Headache Clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.  While there he specialized in the treatment of migraines and chronic headaches.

Fairness is a sacred concept to me 

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

In my spare time I like to cook, hike and weight train at the gym.
