Adam Altman, DC, Cert MDT, is a graduate of National University of Health Sciences. He trained in physical and internal medicine while at National University and received his undergraduate degree in Health Promotion from The University of Iowa with a Minor in Psychology.
Dr. Altman has been practicing since 2014, the last 4 years in both a Sports Medicine practice seeing a very athletic population; and in The Willis Tower working with more occupational therapy.
Dr. Altman’s practice specializes in the care of debilitating musculoskeletal pain and for those who are looking for alternatives to surgery. Altman’s interests also include working with athletes of varying skill level, who need help reaching their goals. Dr. Altman has special interest working with Endurance Athletes and CrossFit Athletes.
Dr. Altman has post-doctoral training in Mechanical Diagnostic Therapy (MDT). He is a credentialed clinician and hopes to continue his education within the field as well as progressing his internal medicine training through the Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists (DABCI) program.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
I am most passionate about empowering the patient to make healthy lifestyle choices to improve their quality of life.Personally: I am most interested in being the best version of myself. Understanding that setbacks do happen, but steady, consistent, healthy progress is the key to achieving health goals.
What three traits define you?
Understanding/Empathetic, Dedicated, and Resilient
What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?
Practice Medicine: Simply put I would still do my job.
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
Exercise; it centers me.
What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?
I think the only true evaluation should come from my patients, but I have had patients travel across the country to come see me
What’s your biggest accomplishment?
Graduating Cum Laude from National University of Health Sciences
How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?
I have had acute lower back pain with leg pain that resolved with therapy, and treated chronic shoulder, and ankle injuries.
What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?
Chronic neck and lower back pain, as well as extremity pain
What are you complimented on most in your work?
Dedication, ability to listen to the patient, and formulate an individualized treatment plan with their goals in mind.
Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?
Someone who is open to alternative medicine, believes they have the capability to improve their health, and is motivated to make the necessary health changes
What is your grand, audacious goal? What do you wish people would know, believe, do?
I want patients to believe they can be an active participant in their health care, I want them to take accountability for where they are, and where they could be. Interventions should be foundational at first, and things should follow a steady progression supported through evidenced based medicine.
Do you have any other passions of personal goals that you would like to share?
I will be pursuing my passion for MDT through applying for the Diploma program, which is the highest level of education that can be attained.
What do you do for fun in your spare time? What are your hobbies?
I am an avid CrossFitter, I enjoy endurance sport activities, and I was a gymnast in high school.
Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.
I have the aspiration to compete in the Masters division of the CrossFit games, as well as complete an Iron Man Triathlon in my lifetime. And lastly, I can still do a standing backflip.
