About Dr. Catalano
Bianca M. Catalano, DC is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. Prior to joining Aligned Modern Health, she completed an eight-month clerkship at the Central Iowa Veterans Affairs Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. This was a rare opportunity that only a small percentage of Chiropractic Students were chosen for. While there, she evaluated and treated patients every day. She also had the opportunity to rotate and shadow with Primary Care, Primary Home Health Care, Cardiology, Pain Psychology, Pharmacy, Acupuncture, Spinal Cord Injury, Radiology, Physical Therapy, and General Surgery. She was also able to conduct a case study and will be presenting her research at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges conference in March 2020.
Dr. Catalano enjoys working with all types of musculoskeletal injuries. As a former gymnast and softball player, she struggled with hip injuries and is very familiar with how frustrating an injury is for anyone. She has a strong background of working in a multidisciplinary setting due to her time at the VA hospital, and is very comfortable with using this setup in order to best treat her patients.
Dr. Catalano is passionate and excited to help patients get out of pain, accomplish their goals, and live their best lives.
Q&A with Dr. Catalano
What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?Professionally, I am most passionate about providing the care that I would want to receive. I make sure to listen and help the patients reach their own goals and not just the goals that I would typically set for them. Personally, I am most passionate about balance. I like to be productive and efficient, but I also like to spend time with friends and family and have fun. Life is too short not to live it to its fullest.
What three traits define you?
Passionate, trustworthy, energetic
What are you surprisingly good at?
Being good at random games when the pressure is on (I’m competitive)
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
What’s your biggest accomplishment?
Professionally it was being chosen for the 8-month hospital-based clerkship at the Central Iowa Veterans Affairs Hospital. Only a select few were chosen and it was an extremely humbling experience to be able to serve the Veterans. Personally, it was receiving the exact score I needed on my uneven bars routine to qualify for the State Championships for gymnastics. It was over 10 years ago and I can still picture that moment vividly.
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
Chicago Bears Events and Entertainment Intern – It was a weird job for a science major to have but it was my favorite summer job ever.
What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?
Fearing their diagnosis/injury/problem. If there is one thing that I learned from being a patient myself, it is that having a doctor listen to you and fully answer your questions instills confidence in yourself. I make sure to do that for all my patients.
What are you complimented on most in your work?
That I am the first person they saw genuinely smiling all day.
Share something unique that most people don’t know about you.
I once drove 24 hours to Whitefish, Montana for a snowboarding trip with some friends from school. On the way back, we drove through a blizzard and got stuck on the side of a mountain. 5 hours later some locals had to help us out, and we were stuck in East Glacier, Montana for the night.
